Applying to Med SchoolThe Primary Application:
Submitted through AMCAS(MD),AACOMAS(DO), or TMDSAS (Texas). These are similar to the common app, in which you complete one application for every school you plan to apply to. Upon receiving your primary application, schools will decide whether they are interested in moving forward with your application and if so, send you a secondary.
Secondaries are additional essays that are unique to each school. These questions give schools a better understanding of how well you fit in with the mission and values of the school and why you are interested in attending there. Interviews: Schools typically restrict interviews to candidates they have a strong interest in admitting. Your interview day is a final opportunity to confirm to the school that you would be a good fit and also gives you a chance to get to know more about the program. Most importantly it gives the admissions committee a chance to understand who you are as a person and how you interact with those around you. (May be 1 on 1 with faculty or students, conducted in a group, or situation based (MMI). |
